Former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli has revealed two of his best moments from the Indian Premier League (IPL). To note, Kohli has been a part of RCB since the inception of IPL in 2008. Kohli remains the only player to appear for a single franchise in Indian Premier League history.

The 33-year-old, while talking to RCB in a behind-the-scenes segment during a photo shoot, revealed his two best moments in the IPL. Of the two, one of the moments also involves his best friend AB de Villiers. Both Kohli and De Villiers share a great bond and are never shy to applaud each other on public platforms.

Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016 is one of Kohli’s favourite moment

In IPL 2016, Kohli played a fantastic knock of 54 off just 45 balls in a match against Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) in Raipur. Chasing 139, RCB went on to win the contest easily with 11 balls left. The other match was Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Lions where former South African batter AB de Villiers had played an excellent knock of 79 runs in just 47 balls. The wicketkeeper-batter was in sublime form as he stitched a 91-run stand alongside No.8 batter Iqbal Abdulla (33 off 25) to help RCB qualify for the final.

“The last game that we played in 2016 against Delhi in Raipur. And then the very next qualifier, when AB played a gun knock and Iqbal was with him at the other end. The celebration after that game was the most special that I have ever experienced,” said Kohli.

“IPL final 2016 (when asked about the game that broke his heart) and that same year, 2016 World Cup semi-final at Wankhede against West Indies,” he added.

Even though RCB lost the final match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kohli was in impressive touch during IPL 2016. The 33-year-old had scored a record 973 runs in the IPL 2016 season, which still remains a record for the most runs in a single IPL season by a batter.
