IPL 2022: Frustrated Ishan Kishan smashes the boundary cushions with his bat after getting out vs LSG
Kishan scored a painstaking 13 off 17 balls during his brief stay in the middle.
Mumbai Indians opener Ishan Kishan is having a tough time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) edition. He was the most expensive player of the mega auction in February earlier this year. The five-time champions had secured his services for a whopping amount of INR 15.25 crore. But apart from one odd knock, the southpaw has not been able to make an impact in any of the other matches and his frustration was visible after getting out in the game against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday (April 16).
MI needed a good start chasing down 200 runs but they lost their opener and skipper Rohit Sharma early yet again. This is when Ishan Kishan was expected to take charge of the innings. But the left-handed batter struggled during his brief stay in the middle. He crawled his way to 13 off 17 deliveries before getting out to Marcus Stoinis in the 7th over of the innings.
It was a harmless delivery that Kishan looked to tuck and get a single. But instead he ended up dragging it back onto his stumps. Expectedly, he was gutted with himself and vented his frustration while walking back to the dugout. He smashed the bat on the boundary cushions that has sponsors printed on it. This is likely to come under the breach of code of conduct and one shouldn’t be surprised if Ishan Kishan is fined for his actions.

Ishan Kishan struggling from last four matches
Not that Ishan Kishan was out of form when the IPL 2022 commenced. He smacked 81* and 54 in the first two matches against Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals before losing his touch suddenly. His last four scores read – 14, 26, 3 and 13. This explains something is not right with the youngster and Mumbai Indians will be hoping that he returns to his best sooner rather than later.
Kishan has so far scored 191 runs in six innings at an average of 38.20 and a strike-rate of 117.17. These numbers look decent but his last four outings haven’t been up to the mark.
