Delhi Capitals (DC) faced the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 19th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The game was a high-scoring one as the DC openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner took the attack to the opposition bowlers to slam their respective fifties. Their opening stand of 93 runs in less than nine overs also set a perfect platform for the Capitals to post a huge total. However, they slowed down considerably in the second half of the innings with wickets falling at regular intervals.

Understandably, the DC camp was worried and especially head coach Ricky Ponting who was watching the game intensely. At the same time, during the 19th over, the former Australia cricketer was seen arguing with the fourth umpire telling him about certain happenings on the field. Though the reason for Ponting getting angry is not yet clear, but he really looked animated and it possibly had to do something with either the field setting or the umpire’s decision.

Many on social media speculated that he was unhappy with the umpire not calling a delivery to Shardul Thakur wide in the 19th over of the innings. But the ball was indeed a legal one. Interestingly, even Rishabh Pant and Pravin Amre were not happy at something and they pointed out the mistake to the fourth umpire. It was possibly about an extra fielder being outside the circle in the death overs, however, nothing is confirmed yet.

DC post a mammoth total of 215 runs on the board

Meanwhile, despite losing the steam by the 15th over of the innings, the Delhi Capitals managed to post 215 runs on the board in their 20 overs. The duo of Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel took on Umesh Yadav and Pat Cummins in the last two overs to churn out 39 runs. At one stage though it seemed as if the Capitals would easily go past the 230-run mark. But constant fall of wickets in the middle overs meant they lost the momentum.
