Rajasthan Royals will fight for their second IPL title
The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will get underway on March 26 with the opening match being played between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Rajasthan Royals (RR), who will be fighting for their second title, will play their first match of the tournament on 29th March 2022. The ‘Men in Pink’ will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side in their opening fixture, which will take place in Pune.
In the IPL 2022 mega auction, the RR side strengthened its squad. The side spent a whopping sum of INR 10 crore to purchase right-arm pacer Prasidh Krishna. Apart from Krishna, the ‘Men in Pink’ also bought the likes of R Ashwin (INR 5 Crore), Trent Boult (INR 8 Crore), Shimron Hetmyer (INR 8.5 Crore), Yuzvendra Chahal (INR 6.5 Crore) and Devdutt Padikkal (INR 7.75 Crore). The Rajasthan Royals have won the IPL once, and they did so in the inaugural season in 2008, defeating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side in the summit clash.
