IPL 2022: List of marquee players registered for mega auction
It remains to be seen which teams grab their services as IPL 2022 will be a 10-team affair.
As the IPL 2022 mega auction is inching closer, developments around the same are unfolding one after the other. As the mega auction list has been announced, a total of 370 Indian players and 220 overseas players have registered for the show. In the same line of events, a set of marquee players have given their names for the high-profile event.
Some of the big guns that have registered for the mega auction are- Ravi Ashwin, Pat Cummins, Quinton de Kock, Trent Boult, Shikhar Dhawan, Faf du Plessis, Shreyas Iyer, Kagiso Rabada, David Warner, and Mohammed Shami. All these players have been released by the respective franchises ahead of the mega auction and teams will be eager to grab their services going forward.
It has to be noted that all the above-mentioned players have registered themselves at a base price of INR 2 crore. It remains to be seen which team grab their services as IPL 2022 is going to be a 10-team affair. Some of these names like Faf du Plessis, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, and David Warner can be viewed as captaincy prospects as KKR, RCB, SRH, and PBKS will be on a lookout for their skipper.

The other two teams that have walked in the contest are Ahmedabad and Lucknow Super Giants where the former have gone with local boy Hardik Pandya as their leader whereas Lucknow have trusted KL Rahul as their captain. The mega auction will be held on 11-12 February in Bangalore and teams will be coming up with their best strategies.
From the above-mentioned payers, Dhawan would be up for grabs as a specialist batter while Cummins would be back in the scene after missing the second half of IPL 2021. Even Iyer can be viewed as a captaincy option too after Delhi let him go during the retention time period. Rabada and Shami can be a great option for franchises looking out for pacers to level up their side.
