IPL 2022: List of players retained by Rajasthan Royals

The BCCI had given the deadline of November 30 to the existing franchises of IPL to announce their retained and released players. Thus, the teams came out with the same, and Rajasthan Royals have retained Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the upcoming seasons. The players have been instrumental for the side and hence the management has trusted them to bring a change in the team’s fortunes.

The IPL 2022 is all set to welcome two new teams in the upcoming edition of the tournament. The new entries will be a part of the mega auction and the franchises will have to put their thinking hats on for building a formidable side. Talking about the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals the team would be all raring to taste the title glory this time around.

Here are the players retained by Rajasthan Royals:

Sanju Samson

Though Rajasthan Royals wasn’t able to make a larger impact in the league lately, skipper Sanju Samson has been exceptional for the side. In the previous edition of the tournament, he scored 484 runs from 14 matches at an average of 40.33. About his captaincy, Samson brings in certain ease and calm in his approach and the franchise will pin a lot of hope on him to keep performing for the side.

It is understood that he will continue as the captain of the side. Samson had joined the Royals in 2018 and was handed over the leadership duties. Though the team couldn’t advance to the play-offs, the keeper-batter finished the season on a personal high note.

Jos Buttler

Whereas on the other hand, England’s star keeper-batter Jos Buttler has also been retained by RR. The swashbuckling batter always adds more value to any team he features for. His attacking game and fearless approach to batting make him one of the best batters of this format. In the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2021 as well, he hit a belligerent century against Sri Lanka and it was pretty obvious that he will be retained by the team.

Rajasthan Royals had a rather dismaying outing in the previous edition of the league. The team finished at the seventh position of the points table with five wins from 14 matches. With an opportunity to rebuild their side, the management will definitely aim to make the most of the mega auction.

Yashasvi Jaiswal 

The team has invested in the youngster considering the future of the franchise. The batter’s contributions at the top order will be crucial for the side, heading into a brand new season. He too will be all pumped up to take on the challenge and perform for the side.
