The Gujarat Titans will lock horns with strong-looking Delhi Capitals in Match 10 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The group stage match will be played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on April 2 (Saturday).
Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans beat their opponents Lucknow Super Giants in their opening encounter of the tournament. Batting first Lucknow Super Giants got to a competitive total of 158/6 in their 20 overs. However, Gujarat chased down the total with two balls to spare in their innings. Pacer Mohammed Shami was adjudged player of the match for scalping three wickets in the match.
Here’s a look at GT Playing XI for the game against DC
Openers: Shubman Gill and Matthew Wade
Gujarat openers failed to provide a good start to their team in the previous encounter, as Shubman Gill was sent to the pavilion without disturbing the scorers. Another opener, Matthew Wade did play a crucial knock of 30 runs off 29 balls, hitting four boundaries.
Even though GT openers failed to provide a good start to their team, the management will look to give another chance to the talented batter Gill and wicketkeeper-batter Wade. The Capitals have a good bowling unit and it will be exciting between DC’s new-ball bowlers and GT openers.
Middle-order: Vijay Shankar, David Miller, and Abhinav Manohar
Barring all-rounder Vijay Shankar, the rest of the Gujarat middle order put up vital contributions for their team during the opening encounter. The middle-order played a crucial role in GT’s victory, as they not only scored runs but made them at a decent rate as well.
Similarly, David Miller (30 off 21 balls) and Abhinav Manohar (15* off 7 balls) played handy knocks for their team. While Miller got out after playing a crucial knock, Manohar remained unbeaten in his innings and played a perfect supporting role for Rahul Tewatia.
All-rounders: Rahul Tewatia and Hardik Pandya
All-rounder Rahul Tewatia (40 off 24 balls) was excellent in his batting effort, as he remained unbeaten and took his side home after playing a fantastic knock. The left-handed-batter stroked five fours and two maximums during his innings. However, the 28-year-old did not bowl in the match. Skipper Hardik Pandya (33 off 28 balls) played a crucial knock for his team.
Bowlers: Lockie Ferguson, Varun Aaron, Mohammed Shami, and Rashid Khan
Gujarat pacers were spot on during their first encounter against LSG. Player of the match Mohammed Shami was the pick of bowlers, as the pacer struck three times, giving away only 25 runs in his four-over quota. Shami dismissed KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, and Manish Pandey.
Leg-spinner, Rashid Khan was more than effective in bowling. The Afghanistan star spinner bowled his full quota of four overs and took one wicket of Deepak Hooda, giving away only 27 runs in his spell.
Express pacer Varun Aaron was a little expensive during his spell, but he also took two crucial wickets of Evin Lewis and Ayush Badoni. The Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson did not get any wickets, but he was very economical giving away only 24 runs in his four-over quota.
