IPL 2022, Match 13 RR vs RCB, Stats Review: Jos Buttler shatters a plethora of records amid RCB's triumph
Jos Buttler became the first England cricketer to hit 100 sixes in the IPL.
The thirteenth match of IPL 2022 saw Royal Challengers Bangalore handing over Rajasthan Royals their first defeat this season, by winning a seesaw chase by four wickets. Rajasthan Royals had a clear edge over the other teams after winning both their first two games, and having a net run rate of over two. Royal Challengers Bangalore, however, managed to put a brake on Rajasthan’s progress.
Jos Buttler continued his remarkable form with an unbeaten 47-ball 70, with some good support from Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer. Despite losing only three wickets, RR could manage only 169 which wasn’t enough. No player batted at a strike rate of over 150.
RCB managed to chase it while making the simple look complicated yet again. They aced both the powerplay and the death overs to win despite a middle-over collapse. Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat shared a fifty-run opening stand and from there it looked like RCB would win with ease.
Thanks to Trent Boult and the former RCB player Yuzvendra Chahal, RCB were reduced to 87/5 in no time. Even RCB had no batter striking at over 150 at this stage. However, Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik shared a 67-run stand that helped RCB to win from an unlikely position, as both scored forties striking above 170.
