Rajasthan Royals have been the team to beat so far in the IPL 2022 season and rightly so, are currently at the top of the points table with six points on board. The Men in Pink have put on some outstanding performances, and won a close encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants in the previous game as well. Things have gone in the right direction for the side, despite some of the batters not coming to the party yet, and they will be more destructive with a complete performance.

Royals have maintained an excellent net run-rate after the big win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, in their season opener, and it is expected to pay them dividends towards the business end of the tournament. The spin attack of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal has been quite magnificent so far for the Royals and has provided the skipper Sanju Samson with a lot of variety and options in their bowling.

The planning and strategy of the Royals have been on the money right from the auction, and the inclusion of Kumar Sangakkara as the director, and Lasith Malinga as the bowling coach into the setup has paid off well. However, they will be looking to hold up their position at the top of the table with an important fixture against Gujarat Titans in Match 24 of IPL 2022.

Predicted Rajasthan Royals Playing XI vs Gujarat Titans

Openers – Devdutt Padikkal, Jos Buttler

Devdutt Padikkal was back to his opening position in the previous game as the Royals decided to drop their uncapped retention of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Padikkal had a good start with a 29-ball 29, but the management will expect a lot more from a player of his caliber. The left-hander was a sensation last year, and he can keep the scoreboard ticking with some excellent shots once he gets his eye in.

Jos Buttler has the most runs in the tournament so far with 218 runs in four games despite a low score in the previous game and he has been highly consistent in this edition. The wicketkeeper batter is the only centurion as well this year, and he is likely to continue his assault at the top of the order. The right-hander can have a massive impact on the game and the Royals will be hoping, he stays long at the crease.

Middle Order – Sanju Samson (c) (wk), Rassie van der Dussen, Shimron Hetmyer

Sanju Samson hasn’t capitalized on his good starts and has fallen off the radar after starting the tournament with a bang. The right-hander can be very destructive if he can stay long, and is a prolific six-hitter as well. The Royals skipper has scored 106 runs in 4 games this edition and will be looking to add more to the tally.

Rassie van der Dussen got his place in the lineup as the fourth overseas player, and he couldn’t use the opportunity in his first outing. However, the South African batter is a match-winner in the shorter formats and brings a lot to the table for the Royals. He is likely to get another go despite the failure in the previous game.

Shimron Hetmyer has been the most prized possession for the Royals this season and he has been contributing in every game that his franchise has played so far. The West Indian has adapted to the role of a finisher quite effectively with 168 runs in 4 games and played an important unbeaten knock of 59 to take his side to a competitive score in their first innings.

All-rounders – Riyan Parag, R Ashwin

Riyan Parag hasn’t had much to do so far in the tournament as he has hardly played deliveries after coming into bat at number six, and has bowled just two overs so far. The all-rounder has been designated the role of a finisher and he would be looking to have more impact in the victories. Parag has been a safe house so far in the field with some brilliant catches.

Ravichandran Ashwin hasn’t been among the wickets column much this season, but certainly has been holding up the scoring rate, and has formed an excellent partnership with Chahal from the other end. The off-spinner played a handy knock with the bat in the previous game with a 23-ball 28 and stepped up with the ball as well by bowling 4 over for just 20 runs.

Bowlers – Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Sen

Trent Boult bowled one of the best deliveries in this IPL edition with a brilliant inswinging delivery from around the wicket to KL Rahul in the very first ball of the innings against LSG. The left-arm seamer has played a vital role in the Royals’ bowling lineup and he finished with 2 for 30 in his 4-over spell in the previous game.

Yuzvendra Chahal, meanwhile, has been the star performer for the Royals with the ball and is currently at the top of the purple cap race as well. The leg spinner has picked up 11 wickets in four games at an impressive economy rate and continued his wicket-taking form in the previous game with 4 for 41 in his four overs.

Prasidh Krishna started the tournament with a bang but has faded off in the last few games and the Royals will expect him to be back at his best again in the upcoming fixture. The speedster picked up 1 /35 the previous game and would like to put up a better show this time around.

Kuldeep Sen came into the lineup at the expense of Navdeep Saini and straightaway was impressive clocking some high speeds in his debut IPL game. The Madhya Pradesh lad bowled a phenomenal final over against Marcus Stonis to defend 15 off the last over and ensured his side the victory by keeping a calm head. He is expected to get a long run after his performance in the first game.

Rajasthan Predicted Playing XI: Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (C & Wk), Rassie van der Dussen, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Kuldeep Sen, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal.
