IPL 2022, Match 63 LSG vs RR, Stats Review: Deepak Hooda’s feat, Ayush Badoni’s lean run, and other stats
Rajasthan Royals dethroned Lucknow Super Giants from the second position thanks to their better net run rate
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal along with skipper Sanju Samson played useful knocks while Trent Boult took 2/18 in his four-over spell as Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 24 runs in Match 63 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Jaiswal made 41 off 29 with another left-hander, Padikkal, playing a blitz innings of 39 off just 18 to help their side in posting 178/6. Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy snared two scalps each as RR restricted LSG to 154 runs.
Talking about how the match went by, skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat. Jos Buttler, who has suffered a downfall since the last few games, managed to score only two runs while captain Samson amassed 32 off 24, before getting dismissed by Jason Holder for the fourth time in T20s. RR’s lower-order also contributed in taking their side to a competitive total of over 175 runs. Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers for LSG for his spell of 2/31. LSG used as many as eight bowlers to complete the quota of 20 overs.
Chasing 179, Kiwi pacer Trent Boult found his rhythm as he got the wickets of Quinton de Kock and Ayush Badoni on consecutive deliveries. The former made only seven runs while the latter grabbed a golden duck. Deepak Hooda continued his solid run with his knock of 59 runs off 39 balls, with five fours and two maximums.
Krunal Pandya scored 25 runs while Marcus Stoinis 27, but the target seemed to be far out of reach from LSG’s hands. The spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin also took a wicket apiece to seal the match for their side. With this victory, the Royals leapfrogged the Super Giants to occupy the second position in the table with 16 points. On the other hand, LSG slipped to the third spot with as many points to their name. For his two wickets at an economy rate of just 4.50, Boult won the Player of the Match award.
