Rahul Tripathi played a scintillating knock of 76 off 44, which included nine fours and three maximums, while Umran Malik was at his fiery best yet again with figures of 3/23 in his three overs as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got over the line against Mumbai Indians (MI) by three runs in Match 65 of IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an excellent maiden 19th over which also included the run-out dismissal of dangerous-looking Tim David.

Speaking about how the match went by, skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. Abhishek Sharma got out for just nine runs while Priyam Garg, who played his first match of this season, scored 42 off 26 but it was Tripathi who was on fire. The right-handed batter brought up his third half-century of this campaign and he was well-supported by destructive batter Nicholas Pooran. The West Indian amassed 38 off 22 with two fours and three maximums.

Both helped the Orange Army in reaching a massive total of 193/6 in 20 overs. Ramandeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for MI for his spell of 3/20 in three overs. Chasing a stiff target of 194, openers Rohit and Ishan Kishan got their team off to a great start. Both added 95 runs for the opening wicket with the first wicket falling in form of skipper Rohit in the 11th over. He got dismissed for 48, falling short of just two runs of his fifty.

Kishan, who made 43, became the victim of speedster Malik. Tim David threatened to take the game away with his blitz of 46 off just 18 but got run-out in the penultimate over to end all the hopes for MI. T Natarajan had a forgettable outing for his spell of 0/60. With this win, SRH moved to 12 points and kept their playoff hopes alive while MI suffered the tenth defeat of the campaign. For his blistering half-century, Rahul Tripathi won the Player of the Match award.
