IPL 2022: MS Dhoni has a hilarious way of telling fans to not write any team off in latest ad
IPL 2022 is set to get underway on March 26.
The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to get underway on March 26 and fans can’t keep calm. After all, the past 14 seasons of the gala competition have provided exceptional entertainment to the fans. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that IPL has been instrumental in the rise of T20 cricket over the years.
Owing to all these factors, fans must have marked their calendars. As the countdown for IPL 2022 is underway, Star Sports has released a new advertisement featuring Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni. The hilarious ad shows two people trying to defuse a bomb, which contained many coloured wires. The senior pro reckons all the other wires apart from blue and yellow can be cut off.
Then appears MS Dhoni on the screen, advising the duo to not take other wires lightly. As the two didn’t oblige to his advice, the bomb exploded. Apparently, the blue and yellow colour denoted Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, who have lifted the IPL title five and four times respectively. The ad concluded with Dhoni suggesting fans to not write off any side.
IPL 2022 to be MS Dhoni’s swansong?
Meanwhile, CSK will step into the competition as defending champions and won’t mind retaining the title. The season might also be Dhoni’s last assignment in CSK colours as a player. Hence, many eyes will be on the 40-year-old. Although he hasn’t made his bat talk much in the last couple of seasons, his leadership and précised tactics has been instrumental to team’s success.
Meanwhile, IPL 2022 is set to be a grand affair with two new franchises – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans – coming into the picture. Hence, for the very first time since 2011, IPL will be a 10-team affair.
For the unversed, the teams have been divided into two virtual groups based on their previous season’s performances. Each team will play twice with the teams in their group and with the team in the same row in the second group. The side will play once with the remaining sides in the other group.
