In the 22nd match of the IPL 2022, the Chennai Super Kings and Royals Challengers Bangalore locked horns at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. While it was becoming tough for CSK to open their account this season, they posted a monstrous total of 216 runs, the highest of the season, and restricted RCB from chasing down.
In the second innings of the game during RCB’s chase, former captain MS Dhoni used his tactical acumen to set the fielding when Virat was out with the bat. The mastermind framed a blueprint, planned it out on the field, executed it and the result- Virat Kohli being dismissed scoring just one run.
Dhoni moved Shivam Dube from fine leg to deep square leg in a move to trap Kohli. On the very next ball, the former RCB skipper hit the ball towards the deep square leg and was caught by Dube at the exact point. RCB faced a huge setback when they lost Kohli in the powerplay, just before they had lost their skipper Faf du Plessis.

Chennai Super Kings won their first game of the tournament, defeated RCB by 23 runs
Talking about the game, Chennai Super Kings registered their first victory of the season to add the first points of the season. Faf du Plessis won the toss and put CSK to bat first. The defending champions, who desperately needed a win, posted a massive total of 216 runs, courtesy of Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa as the former scored an unbeaten 95* followed by an 88 by the latter.
During the chase, CSK made quite a few errors but were able to defend the score towards the end. After dismissing Faf, Anuj Rawat, Virat, and Glenn Maxwell, CSK completely focused on breaking RCB’s momentum and tried to break all the budding partnerships. Dinesh Karthik threatened for some time, but the men in yellow managed to send him packing.
With this game, Ravindra Jadeja also marked his first victory as a captain, and will now look forward to carrying the same momentum ahead.
