It seems that the Sunrisers Hyderabad players are in the perfect frame of mind ahead of their IPL 2022 opener against the Rajasthan Royals, which will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on March 29. The former champions have a balanced side this time around after having made some smart buys at the two-day mega auction.
Meanwhile, two of their key players were seen having some banter during the nets. More than banter, it could be viewed as one of the best techniques in bringing out the best in a player. The players in the discussion were explosive West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran and India’s emerging pace sensation Umran Malik.

Nicholas Pooran wins the bet as Umran Malik fails to bowl a yorker
“If you bowl a yorker (next ball), I will buy you dinner”, said Pooran.
“Promise?”, asked Malik before he charged in to bowl the next ball. However, the Caribbean stumper did make it crystal clear that should the youngster not be able to bowl a yorker, then the onus will be on him to treat the southpaw for dinner.
Unfortunately, Umran was unable to bowl a yorker, and instead, it turned out to be a juicy full-toss after which Pooran asked him whether he is being sponsored a free dinner for the night, to which the bowler agreed.

Umran Malik was one of SRH’s mandatory retentions for IPL 2022 along with the likes of skipper Kane Williamson and his Jammu and Kashmir teammate Abdul Samad. He was offered INR 4 crore. The speedster had grabbed headlines in the 2021 season having bowled in excess of 150 kmph.
Pooran, on the other hand, has been bought by the 2016 winners for INR 10.75 crore. The Orange Army had finished at the rock bottom last season and would be hoping to go all the way this time around.
