The South African batsman is one of the most gifted athletes one can have on their team, and CSK was lucky enough to have him for nearly a decade. However, during the mega auction this year, the CSK franchise tried their best to recapture Du Plessis but lost the bidding war to <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/rcb-royal-challengers-bangalore/">Royal Challengers Bangalore</a> who bought him for INR 7 Cr.

He was also appointed as the captain by the RCB management and has been doing well for them ever since. CSK would have made full use of the choice given to bring Du Plessis in, as he, with his experience, would bolster their batting lineup and would have saved quite a few runs in the field as he is excellent in both of the departments.

The Du Plessis-led RCB side has been doing really well with him mainly taking the responsibility and playing some vital knocks which include an 88 against the Punjab Kings in the opening encounter and 96 vs the Lucknow Super Giants. His captaincy skills (which we have seen with RCB) would have surely led to CSK appointing him as the skipper this season rather than Jadeja.

The release of the Pandya brothers from their squad has made Mumbai suffer in 2022 since they lack depth in the all-rounders department. Many thought Hardik would be retained but ended up being released as Mumbai went with Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kieron Pollard as their 4 choices.

Pandya was then roped in by Gujarat Titans and was appointed captain. Hardik has been great with the Titans winning six out of the seven matches played. The DC had a change of fortunes in the year 2019 as their new captain Shreyas Iyer led his team to two consecutive playoffs (Qualifier 2 in 2019 and to the finals in 2020). His experience would greatly benefit Delhi Capitals who are struggling with a relatively inexperienced middle order. He is also continuing his good run of form by playing some crucial knocks in almost every game which is proving to be handy for KKR.

The KKR management decided to let go of Shubman Gill, after his not-so-great outing last season. Then, the newly formed team of the Gujarat Titans decided to pick him, which is doing wonders for them. Gill has become their star player with his recent innings being 84 and 96 respectively.

By picking Gill, the KKR team could surely fix their top-order woes. The <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/kkr-kolkata-knight-riders/">Knight Riders</a> have tried four different opening combinations in their last four games without much success. Their standard opener from last season, Venkatesh Iyer, hasn&#8217;t been doing good while Ajinkya Rahane who was given some opportunities didn&#8217;t live up to the expectations either.

Shubhman Gill along with Aaron Finch, who scored a well-compiled inning of 58 vs RR in his second match of the season, could have been the best opening pair for KKR. The two batters have the ability to take the game away from the opposition and win it with their aggressive batting nature.

Liam Livingstone was a new addition to the Royals squad last year and was given a couple of opportunities to showcase his talent. However, his poor run of scores led to the management losing faith in him and subsequently releasing him from their team.

Rashid has the ability to change the complexion of the match in a single over not only with the ball but with the bat as well. The wily leg-spinner who considers himself an all-rounder, took the CSK bowlers to the cleaners, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-rashid-khan-smashes-chris-jordan-for-22-runs-in-18th-over-against-csk/">smacking Chris Jordan for 22 runs</a> in an over. Leading the side in that game, he ended up scoring 40 off just 21 balls with 2 fours and 3 maximums.

This helped his team cross the line vs CSK which many thought was close to impossible at the start.  SRH would have benefited greatly from having Rashid on their team, as he would provide strength to their spin department and would also be handy down the order with his 20s and 30s helping the team drastically.

Yuzvendra Chahal was an important asset for the Bangalore franchise in the last few years. The leg-spinner is their highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL and many thought that RCB would retain him. However, Chahal was released ahead of the auction and he ended up getting picked by the Rajasthan Royals.

The leg spinner from Haryana was overlooked by RCB in pursuit of getting Wanindu Hasaranga who doubles up as a bowling all-rounder. However, during the mega auction this year, the CSK franchise tried their best to recapture Du Plessis but lost the bidding war to <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/rcb-royal-challengers-bangalore/">Royal Challengers Bangalore</a> who bought him for INR 7 Cr.
He was also appointed as the captain by the RCB management and has been doing well for them ever since. CSK would have made full use of the choice given to bring Du Plessis in, as he, with his experience, would bolster their batting lineup and would have saved quite a few runs in the field as he is excellent in both of the departments.
The Du Plessis-led RCB side has been doing really well with him mainly taking the responsibility and playing some vital knocks which include an 88 against the Punjab Kings in the opening encounter and 96 vs the Lucknow Super Giants. His captaincy skills (which we have seen with RCB) would have surely led to CSK appointing him as the skipper this season rather than Jadeja.

<h3>2. Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians)</h3>

The release of the Pandya brothers from their squad has made Mumbai suffer in 2022 since they lack depth in the all-rounders department. Many thought Hardik would be retained but ended up being released as Mumbai went with Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kieron Pollard as their 4 choices.
Pandya was then roped in by Gujarat Titans and was appointed captain. Hardik has been great with the Titans winning six out of the seven matches played. Hardik&#8217;s inclusion in the middle order would have helped Mumbai strengthen their batting, bowling, and fielding as he is the type of guy who can change the match from any of the three skills.
He is now more mature as a player and has been promoting himself up the order to score runs for the benefit of his side. This side of Hardik Pandya along with his bowling skills would have made Mumbai Indians more lethal than expected.

<h3>3. Shreyas Iyer (Delhi Capitals)</h3>

The DC had a change of fortunes in the year 2019 as their new captain Shreyas Iyer led his team to two consecutive playoffs (Qualifier 2 in 2019 and to the finals in 2020). He was, however, released this year, with the franchise going in with <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/welcome-to-the-world-of-rishabh-pant/">Rishabh Pant</a> as their skipper. Shreyas was eventually bought by the Knight Riders and has been made their new captain.
The Delhi Capitals will take Shreyas into their squad given his recent performances for team India in the limited-overs format. He scored three consecutive half-centuries in a T20I series against Sri Lanka, which is enough to prove how good of a batsman he is.
His experience would greatly benefit Delhi Capitals who are struggling with a relatively inexperienced middle order. He is also continuing his good run of form by playing some crucial knocks in almost every game which is proving to be handy for KKR.

<h3>4. Shubman Gill (Kolkata Knight Riders)</h3>

The KKR management decided to let go of Shubman Gill, after his not-so-great outing last season. Then, the newly formed team of the Gujarat Titans decided to pick him, which is doing wonders for them. Gill has become their star player with his recent innings being 84 and 96 respectively.
By picking Gill, the KKR team could surely fix their top-order woes. The <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/kkr-kolkata-knight-riders/">Knight Riders</a> have tried four different opening combinations in their last four games without much success. Their standard opener from last season, Venkatesh Iyer, hasn&#8217;t been doing good while Ajinkya Rahane who was given some opportunities didn&#8217;t live up to the expectations either.
Shubhman Gill along with Aaron Finch, who scored a well-compiled inning of 58 vs RR in his second match of the season, could have been the best opening pair for KKR. The two batters have the ability to take the game away from the opposition and win it with their aggressive batting nature.

<h3>5. Liam Livingstone (Rajasthan Royals)</h3>

Liam Livingstone was a new addition to the Royals squad last year and was given a couple of opportunities to showcase his talent. However, his poor run of scores led to the management losing faith in him and subsequently releasing him from their team.
<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/punjab-kings/">Punjab Kings</a> picked him in the auction, for his hard-hitting ability, and Livingstone is making all the efforts to justify the Kings&#8217; bidding.  He has been giving nightmares to the bowlers with his ability to score quickly. Livingston is also heavily involved in the bowling combination for PBKS where his two overs and sometimes all four end up being precious for the Punjab Kings since he picks up wickets at regular intervals.
This would have helped greatly if Livingstone was in the Rajasthan team, as he and Hetmyer could have become a vital combination in the middle order. Livingston would have also changed the game with his off-break by containing runs and picking up wickets during the middle overs.

<h3>6. Rashid Khan (Sunrisers Hyderabad)</h3>

Rashid Khan was second on the list of the leading wicket-takers for the orange army and was also influential in the team winning many matches, especially during the 2016 season, where they were crowned champions. However, for some reason, Rashid was released by the Hyderabad franchise and was eventually picked by the Gujarat Titans during the auctions.
Rashid has the ability to change the complexion of the match in a single over not only with the ball but with the bat as well. The wily leg-spinner who considers himself an all-rounder, took the CSK bowlers to the cleaners, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-rashid-khan-smashes-chris-jordan-for-22-runs-in-18th-over-against-csk/">smacking Chris Jordan for 22 runs</a> in an over. Leading the side in that game, he ended up scoring 40 off just 21 balls with 2 fours and 3 maximums.
This helped his team cross the line vs CSK which many thought was close to impossible at the start.  SRH would have benefited greatly from having Rashid on their team, as he would provide strength to their spin department and would also be handy down the order with his 20s and 30s helping the team drastically.

<h3>7. Yuzvendra Chahal (Royal Challengers Bangalore)</h3>

Yuzvendra Chahal was an important asset for the Bangalore franchise in the last few years. The leg-spinner is their highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL and many thought that RCB would retain him. However, Chahal was released ahead of the auction and he ended up getting picked by the Rajasthan Royals.
The leg spinner from Haryana was overlooked by RCB in pursuit of getting Wanindu Hasaranga who doubles up as a bowling all-rounder. Much to Royal&#8217;s delight, Chahal has been performing exceptionally well this season. He is the leading wicket-taker in this edition of TATA IPL picking up 18 scalps in seven games. He returned figures of 5 for 40 against the Knight Riders which included a hat-trick.
This was his first hat trick in IPL history and one that made Rajasthan come out on top from a tricky situation. Therefore, RCB, with the option of selecting a previous player will take Chahal with both hands, given his composure in between matches and wicket-taking abilities.

<h3>8. KL Rahul (Punjab Kings)</h3>

Punjab Kings parted ways with KL Rahul before the 2022 mega-auction, who had captained the side since 2020. Rahul had an outstanding stint with Punjab, finishing as their highest run-scorer in the last two seasons, scoring more than 600 runs in both the editions. He was the lone warrior with the bat without much support from others.
The explosive Indian opener is now with the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-lsg-skipper-kl-rahul-fined-inr-24-lakh-for-second-slow-over-rate-offence-this-season/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lucknow Super Giants </a>where he continues to lead the side from the front. Rahul has already scored two hundred in IPL 2022 with both tons coming against the Mumbai Indians. In the last four years, Rahul has been outstanding in the IPL scoring in excess of 500 runs every season.
With Punjab once again struggling with only three wins in seven games, the team would love to have KL Rahul&#8217;s services in the ongoing season of the cash-rich league given his rich vein of form with the bat.

IPL teams would surely love to pick their proven players from the previous edition if given an opportunity again.
