Lockie Ferguson played a part in just 8 IPL matches for Kolkata Knight Riders last season but had quite an impact. The Kiwi pacer picked up 13 wickets in 8 games at an average of 17.23 and was a key reason for KKR’s turn in fortunes in the second half of IPL. The franchise decided to let go of Lockie Ferguson into the auction pool, given that they already had quite a few options.

The two-time champions decided to re-hire their former player and Indian pacer, Umesh Yadav. So far, this is shaping up to be one of the best buys at the mega auction. The former Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer has picked up nine wickets so far, at an average of 9.33, and is the current holder of the Purple Cap. We are witnessing a 2.0 version of a rejuvenated Umesh Yadav, who is motivated to earn a call-up to the Indian T20 squad.
