To date, the owners have been superlative with their efforts to manage the teams in a fine fashion.
8. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – SUN TV Group
In the inaugural edition, the Deccan Chargers were the franchise based out of Hyderabad and were owned by Deccan Chronicle. They featured in the IPL from 2008 to 2012, while also lifting the title in 2009. Unfortunately, the team was banned by the BCCI in 2012, after they were found to breach their contract terms.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad came forth to replace Deccan Chargers and made their debut in 2013. They are owned by SUN TV Group, which manages a total of 33 television channels, spanning six languages. They also own 67 FM radio stations, three daily newspapers, six magazines, and are certainly a giant in the mass media field.
The daughter of the founder Kaviya Maran is quite popular among cricket fans due to her active involvement in the team’s affairs. In the IPL 2022 auction as well, she was the one holding the responsibility to pick players along with other members.
