A man identified as Dashrath Jadhav has been arrested by Pimpri-Chinchwad Police on April 10 (Sunday) for illegally entering the ground in a group stage match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), played between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.

The 26-year-old has been arrested by the local police after trespassing and creating ruckus during the match. Dashrath, a resident of Khandala taluka in Satara district, was also seen giving fist bumps to Virat Kohli and MI skipper Rohit Sharma before being escorted out by the security deputed at the ground.

FIR under Sections 447 and 353 has been lodged against the violator: Local police

According to local police, an FIR has been lodged against the man under Sections 447 (criminal trespass) and 353 (Assault or use of criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.

“Despite repeated warnings, the man entered the ground by jumping over the fence. He initially gave a fist bump to Virat Kohli and then ran towards Rohit Sharma. He was subsequently detained by the policemen on duty. When he was being escorted out of the ground, he manhandled the cops and created ruckus,” inspector Madhukar Sawant, in-charge of the Talegaon Dabhade police station was quoted by the Indian Express.

Back to the match, RCB captain Faf du Plessis, after winning the toss, invited the Men in Blue to bat first. The opening duo of Ishan Kishan and skipper Rohit Sharma stitched a valuable partnership of 50 runs. However, right after the fall of the first wicket, MI suffered a big collapse, as they managed to make 151/6 in their 20 overs. Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav (68 off 37 balls) was the stand-out performer for MI.

In reply, vital knocks from opener Anuj Rawat (66 off 47 balls) and Virat Kohli (48 off 36 balls) ensured that the Red Army chased down the target easily. Rawat was adjudged the Player of the Match for his crucial knock of 66 runs.
