IPL 2022: Predicting Super Over bowlers of all teams

The Indian Premier League is the biggest festival for cricket on earth. The league has seen some high-scoring encounters as well as nail-biting low-scoring thrillers. The competition that IPL sees is something very different and tough from all the other cricket tournaments in the world. The tournament gets better season-by-season. The 15th edition of the IPL is all set to commence on the 26th of March 2022 which will be a 10-team tournament this time. The franchises are charged up and all ready to hustle at the cricket extravaganza. All of the franchises have assembled their squads. The 20-over cricket has many different things that the other formats don’t have. One of those things is “The Super Over”. It takes place when the totals of both teams get leveled and it decides the winner of the match. Across 14 seasons of IPL, there have been 14 instances where the Super Over took place. Let us predict Super Over bowlers of all teams ahead of IPL 2022 Mumbai Indians – Jasprit Bumrah Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah is not only the first-choice Super Over the bowler for Mumbai Indians but stands tall when it comes to International cricket. He is known to bowl the deadly yorkers. His accuracy rate while executing the yorkers is damn good. He rarely misses a chance to deliver. Jasprit has been an integral part of the Mumbai Indians franchise for the last few years and is one of the most consistent performers in the IPL. He has picked 130 IPL wickets in 106 games at a bowling average of 23.05. In the international T20s for India, he has dismissed 67 batters in 57 games at a bowling average of 19.9. Bumrah is all set to don the MI jersey for the 2022 season. Chennai Super Kings – Dwayne Bravo Dwayne Bravo. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) The lion gets old but never forgets how to hunt. DJ Bravo although has retired from international cricket, but he is still a stand-out match-winner in the shortest format of the game. Bravo has been one of the most successful West Indian players in the history of IPL alongside Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell. Dwayne joined the CSK franchise in 2011 and he has been there since then apart from those two years when CSK didn’t play IPL. He has been a part of so many memories to cherish for the CSK franchise. MS Dhoni backs the Trinidadian cricketer a lot. The main strength of the medium-pacer is bowling in the death overs. His slower ones are one of the best in the world. He has 167 IPL wickets in 151 games. Delhi Capitals – Anrich Nortje Anrich Nortje. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) Anrich Nortje is one of the fastest bowlers in world cricket currently. He alongside Kagiso Rabada and Avesh Khan formed a lethal fast-bowling trio last year for Delhi. Unfortunately, DC no more has his bowling companions in the squad but they still have him. Anrich’s role will be a vital one for the Delhi-based franchise. The Delhi Capitals showed faith in the South African pacer and retained him ahead of the auction. Nortje will bring a lot of extra pace to his bowling which is an ability that most of the pacers don’t possess. Anrich has 34 dismissals in 24 IPL games at a bowling average of 20.56 and a great economy rate of 7.65. Royal Challengers Bangalore – Mohammed Siraj Mohammed Siraj. He has executed some brilliant performances both for India and RCB in the last few years. RCB retained him ahead of the mega auction and the franchise has backed him a lot. He will be RCB’s premier bowler for the 2022 season. The Hyderabad bowler has proved to be an asset for RCB in the powerplay overs. He has a good record with the new ball in T20 cricket. Siraj has played 50 IPL games and has the same number of wickets at a bowling average of 28.74. This Siraj is completely different from the bowler he used to be a few years back. The confidence in his eyes nowadays is very positive which will push him to do better. Kolkata Knight Riders – Pat Cummins Pat Cummins. Cummins was one of the marquee players at the auction and the Kolkata-based franchise had no second thought while bidding for him. Cummins is a complete fast bowler who can succeed in all three forms of cricket. He has been a match-winner for Australia for a good time now. Cummins was an important part of the winning Australian side in the 2021 T20 World Cup. The KKR franchise will feel blessed for getting the amount of experience that the pacer brings. He has played 39 T20Is for Australia and has 44 dismissals to his name at a bowling average of 22.77. In IPL, he has 38 wickets to his name in 37 games. Punjab Kings – Kagiso Rabada Kagiso Rabada. Most of the teams bid for him at the auction but eventually, the highest bid was from the Punjab Kings. Kagiso is a world-class pacer who is unplayable on his day. His addition to the Punjab Kings was their biggest delight from the event. Kagiso Rabada used to be Delhi Capitals’ premier fast bowler till 2021 but somehow, DC was not able to purchase him. Rabada bowled some memorable Super Overs for Delhi and made them win so many thrillers. In 50 IPL games, he has 76 wickets at a fantastic bowling average of 20.53. Punjab will use his four overs with a planned strategy for sure. Sunrisers Hyderabad – Bhuvneshwar Kumar Bhuvneshwar Kumar. (Photo Source: Twitter) Bhuvneshwar Kumar might not have been in-form for a few months but no one can forget what he has done for the Hyderabad franchise. Bhuvi has been playing for Hyderabad for years. The two-time purple cap winner will have a lot more responsibility on his shoulders in the absence of Rashid Khan. The Meerut pacer has been one of the most successful bowlers in the history of the Indian Premier League. His contribution to the SRH has been very precious. Bhuvi has a total of 142 wickets in IPL off 132 games and will complete 150 wickets in this season for sure as whole SRH franchise will want Bhuvi to win games for them with his pinpoint bowling. Rajasthan Royals – Trent Boult Trent Boult. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) The Kiwi pacer has moved to the Rajasthan Royals after playing some really good seasons for the Mumbai Indians. Boult has been one of the most impactful performers for the New Zealand cricket team for more than a decade. He alongside Jasprit Bumrah used to be a threat for most of the batters in the tournament. The southpaw will now have a bigger role to play for the Rajasthan Royals who have been waiting for the IPL trophy after the inaugural season. Trent has played 62 IPL games and has 76 wickets to his name. Boult is a very skillful fast bowler and can bowl brilliantly both with new as well as the old ball. Most probably we will see him bowling Super Overs for RR if needed. Lucknow Super Giants – Avesh Khan Avesh Khan. He was exceptional for the Delhi Capitals last season and had fantastic numbers in the domestic cricket too. His consistent and great performances made his way to the Indian cricket team and he is now a capped fast bowler. However, he had not received the India cap during the auction and at that time, he was the most expensive uncapped bowler. The Lucknow Super Giants will feel lucky that they managed to seal the deal of such a good and promising fast bowler. Avesh Khan is all set to play for the newest IPL franchise under the leadership of KL Rahul. Avesh made his IPL debut in 2017 and has played 25 games since then. In 25 games, he has taken 29 wickets at a bowling average of 25.83. Gujarat Titans – Mohammed Shami Mohammed Shami. He has executed some incredible performances for the Indian Cricket Team over the years and did a fine job for the Punjab Kings in the last few seasons. His role for the Gujarat Titans will not be much different from the one he had done for the PBKS. Mohammed Shami has the experience of bowling the Super Overs more than any other bowler in world cricket. There is no doubt that he will be the first-choice to bowl the Super Overs for GT. Shami has a lot of experience playing IPL. He has 79 IPL wickets to his name in 77 games.
