Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw who had to be hospitalized for suffering from typhoid has now returned to the team hotel which will be a major boost to the side in the coming days if they make it to the next round. The right-hander has missed the last three games after suffering from severe illness but he was confirmed to be available for the rest of the season recently after getting treatment. Delhi Capitals still have two crucial games in hand and Shaw’s return might just be the need of the hour for the side.

With 259 runs in nine games, Shaw has provided good starts for the DC franchise alongside David Warner and the duo has proved to be destructive as well. Delhi has also struggled to find a replacement for Shaw at the top in his absence as the likes of Mandeep Singh and Srikar Bharat have all failed to use their opportunities. The right-hander is quite aggressive upfront in the powerplay and can demolish bowling attacks as well.

Prithvi Shaw is currently being monitored by DC medical team: Statement

Delhi Capitals confirmed in a statement about the discharge of Shaw after his treatment for typhoid and noted about the squad monitoring his health condition as well. Delhi Capitals have been hit massively this season with injuries and Covid cases, however, still they have found a way to win six of their 12 games and stay in the hunt for the playoffs of IPL 2022.

“Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw has been discharged from the hospital where he was being treated for a bout of typhoid,” DC said in a statement.

“Shaw has returned to the team hotel where he is currently recuperating while being monitored by the DC medical team,” the statement added.

Delhi Capitals‘ next game will be against the Punjab Kings at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on May 16.
