IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals team caught in weather turbulence on their way to Kolkata in flight
Rajasthan Royals will be playing Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 Qualifier 1 on May 24.
The Rajasthan Royals finished their IPL 2022 league stage with a five-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings a couple of days ago courtesy of an unbeaten 40 runs off 23 deliveries from Ravichandran Ashwin. The win assured them a berth in the Qualifier 1 as they had a far superior net run rate as compared to the Lucknow Super Giants. They will be facing the table-toppers Gujarat Titans for a place in the final at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 24.
While the RR squad were on their flight to Kolkata from Mumbai for the playoffs, they encountered a strange experience that happened due to natural causes. In fact, one of the members of the squad was also heard yelling ‘Bhai Land Karao’ and then ‘Land Kara De’ funnily as the mist had made its way inside the flight as well.
What really stood out here was that the other members including youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal were enjoying this experience with great enthusiasm. There were ‘Halla Bol’ chants as well during this time. The video ends with the flight landing safely in Kolkata and all of the members of the Rajasthan Royals getting down.
What really happened during RR’s flight from Mumbai to Kolkata?
Kolkata has been facing heavy thunderstorms. Crashes of thunder can be heard in the above video which could have caused some fear among the members of the contingent. As per reports, “winds blew at a speed of 60 kmph. The rain was preceded by a thick cloud cover over Kolkata” on Saturday, May 21.
Such has been the severity of the thunderstorms in the ‘City of Joy’ that it halted the Asian Football Confederation Cup fixture between ATK Mohun Bagan and Basundhara Kings for an hour. The bad weather conditions are expected to play a spoilsport in the upcoming Qualifier 1 as well and should that happen then GT will advance to the finals while RR will then need to play the winner of Eliminator in Qualifier 2 on May 27.
