IPL 2022: Ranking teams based on the performance of their retained players
The 8 existing teams retained some of the players the two new sides signed 3 players each ahead of the mega auction.
5. Punjab Kings
Just like their previous seasons, Punjab had again retained the least amount of players. At the mega 2022 auction, the franchise also carried the most cash in its wallet. As a result, PBKS has now experienced a good turnaround in their performances. However, their two reserved players have uncertainly been topsy turvy.
Particularly in Mayank Agarwal’s case, the batter hasn’t contributed immensely this season. In his 11 appearances, the cricketer has only produced 195 runs including a single fifty. More importantly, a recent juggle in his batting position has also discomforted the skipper.
Perhaps even on the other end, Arshdeep’s apt bowling has lacked wickets. Though economy-wise, the southpaw has been very efficient (7.69), his wickets count just stands at 7. In fact, in comparison to IPL 2021, the pacer has been made to bowl more defensively. All in all, for PBKS to finish in the top four, big innings from the captain will be required.
