The only reason MI is placed higher than CSK is their superb investment in the future. If we analyze their performance in the auction, it is more or less mediocre. This time around, they have an exceptional pool of overseas players. We will be witnessing the Bumrah-Archer bowling pair in the next IPL.
Apart from that, Tymal Mills is the backup pacer for them. It was disappointing to see them give up on Avesh Khan and Kartik Tyagi easily as their Indian bowling unit looks thin on paper. The middle order is weak as Kieron Pollard is at the twilight of his career.
Talking about good purchases, they have invested in Dewald Brevis, the U19 superstar. It will be interesting to see how they utilize their resources this time around. Rohit Sharma has a lot of thinking to do as they might be affected by bad purchases.
