Gujarat Titans registered an impressive three-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings in Match 29 of IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 17. At one stage, they looked down and out having lost their top order before stand-in captain Rashid Khan and David Miller took control of the proceedings.
The duo targeted England pacer Chris Jordan who was also CSK’s most expensive pacer of the contest having finished his spell with figures of 0/58 from his 3.5 overs at a horrible economy rate of 15.1. Meanwhile, it is during the 18th over where Rashid had taken Jordan to the cleaners with three sixes and a four.
Rashid Khan goes berserk in the 18th over
The Gujarat Titans were 122/5 after the end of 17 overs and needed 48 runs from 18 deliveries and that is when the Afghanistan leg-spinner decided to accelerate. The ball was given to Chris Jordan but, the move backfired completely. He clobbered two sixes over deep square leg and deep backward point respectively and then hit a precious four by successfully clearing the cover fielder.
Things did not end there as the acting captain then slog-swept Jordan over cow corner for a maximum. That was one of the turning points of the contest as the equation as well as the required run rate came down drastically.

Rashid Khan scored 40 runs off 21 balls at a strike rate of 190.5 before being dismissed by Dwayne Bravo in the penultimate over and Alzarri Joseph’s dismissal of the following delivery added more pressure on the Titans. Nonetheless, Proteas middle-order sensation David Miller was already well set and made the most of a demoralized Chris Jordan who was given the responsibility of bowling the final over.
Miller eased off the pressure by first scoring a six. He was then given a reprieve after being caught as replays showed that the ball was above the waist height. The South African batter then hit a four and took two runs as Gujarat got home comfortably.
