Hardik Pandya was a surprise choice when this new franchise appointed him as the leader of the group. He hadn’t led any side since his U16 days. Still, the Gujarat Titans management put faith in him and that paid off, as he guided GT to the trophy in their first-ever attempt.

His strategies of bowling changes and field setting worked well for the franchise. He helped Gujarat to finish at the top of the table after the completion of the group stage matches. He won 10 matches out of 14, more than any other team. Then, he managed to win both Qualifier 1 and the final by guiding his players efficiently.

He led his troops from the front as he scored 487 runs in 15 matches along with eight crucial wickets in 10 innings. Players like Rahul Tewatia and David Miller praised his captaincy style, as players were more secure and their views also got prioritized.
