Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Suryakumar Yadav was in impressive form, scoring 68 runs off just 37 balls in a group stage match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 9 (Saturday). Meanwhile, Suryakumar’s celebrations were as stylish as his batting. After reaching the 50-run mark, the right-handed batter raised his bat, before folding his hands and doing the ‘namaste’ celebration for someone in the crowd.
Even though the five-time champions lost the match, the right-handed batter’s celebration was a talking point among the netizens, after the match. The fans wanted to know the reason, behind the celebration and who the right-handed batter was acknowledging in the crowd.
Suryakumar Yadav was pointing towards his parents
To note, Suryakumar Yadav’s parents, father Ashok Kumar Yadav and his mother Swapna Yadav had come to Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium, Pune, to watch their son play. The batter did not disappoint his parents, as he played an excellent knock and was the main reason for MI to reach the 150-run mark against the Red Army in their previous match.

However, the target of 152 was not enough to stop the RCB batters. Hefty contributions from opener Anuj Rawat (66 off 47 balls) and Virat Kohli (48 off 36 balls) ensured that RCB chased down the target easily. Skipper Faf du Plessis (16 off 24 balls), Dinesh Karthik (7 off 2 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (8 off 2 balls) were other contributors for RCB. Rawat was adjudged player of the match for his vital performance.
Meanwhile, MI have got off to a poor start to their IPL 2022 campaign with no wins in four matches. The five-time champions have not been able to deliver a perfect performance in both the departments of the game and are lacking the potency of the last few editions. They are currently ninth in the points table. The Men in Blue will take on Punjab Kings in their next encounter. The match will be played at MCA stadium, Pune on April 13 (Wednesday).
