The IPL 2022 mega auction is in progress and most of the teams have really made merry so far on the first day of the two-day event in Bengaluru with some smart and important buys. While some teams welcomed new players to their squads, the others also retained their old players. However, there are teams that are playing the waiting game as well and one of them is the five-time champions Mumbai Indians who did not make an impact so far but then went on to retain promising wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan for a staggering INR 15.25 crore.

Meanwhile, it seems that even the senior India players are keeping an eye on the IPL 2022 mega auction. Nonetheless, most of them would have heaved a sigh of relief after being sold on Day one whereas the others who would have gone unsold would be praying hard to find a team. As the tension increased, India’s limited-overs skipper Rohit Sharma revealed how serious his teammates were while watching the auction live.

The Hitman along with Suryakumar Yadav was retained by MI for IPL 2022 on November 30, 2021. While the captain was offered INR 16 crore, the limited-overs middle-order batter was paid INR 8 crore. Bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been roped in by the Delhi Capitals for INR 10.75 crore. DC had retained the wicketkeeper batter Pant as their first-choice player and captain for a sum of INR 16 crore.

Shreyas Iyer on the other hand has been bought by the two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping INR 12.25 crore while leggie Yuzvendra Chahal would be representing the inaugural edition champions Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. RR have roped in the wrist-spinner for INR 6.5 crore.
