Weaknesses- Fragile middle-order

The fact that Gujarat Titans have a great bowling set-up cannot be argued. However, where the team might lack is their batting. The team led by Hardik Pandya appears to be a little weak when it comes to its firepower with the bat. The team does possess a proven opener in Jason Roy. However, the Englishman has often shown a few chinks in his armour when up against good quality spin bowling. Playing in India the explosive batter is likely to encounter plenty of good spinners posing numerous questions to him.

The Titans have been successful in roping Hardik Pandya, who is arguably one of the most sought-after cricketers in India. However, given Pandya’s recent form, it could be seen as a gamble by the franchise, hoping he finds his mojo in time. To add to it, the all-rounder’s recent tryst with injuries is another wheel in the cog that could derail the team at any point during the season.

This franchise also suffers from a lack of experience in the middle order. Though they have the likes of David Miller, Matthew Wade and Vijay Shankar, neither of these players have lit the IPL with their batting in any of the recent IPL seasons.

Thus, the opposing teams would already have pointed out the Titan’s fragile batting lineup and the team could struggle in putting good runs on the board on a consistent basis.
