Though the lack of experience at the IPL presents the Titans with novelty, it also poses the threat of them losing their way quicker than they would expect. The IPL is surely one the most cutthroat T20 leagues in the world and there is very little room for error. Teams, who have been playing over the last 14 years, have played under all types of scenarios and have established their unique gameplays and team culture.

However, the Gujarat Titans lack that and thus might take time to find their feet in the fast-paced tournament. A string of defeats and the team could easily find themselves derailing. Such is the nature of the tournament that once a team is lagging it gets very difficult to climb up the ladder.

The biggest of their threats could lie in an unexplored captain, Hardik Pandya. The ex-Mumbai Indians star has not yet captained in the IPL and would be going against seasoned campaigners such as MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. In tough game situations, Pandya could be vulnerable with his decision making leaving a lot more room for error. And, as it has previously been seen in the IPL, a few wrong captaincy calls could have a huge say in the team winning or losing games and in turn have a direct impact on their chances of lifting the much-coveted trophy.
