IPL 2022: Taskin Ahmed to not get NOC from BCB to play for LSG in the tournament
Taskin Ahmed is currently in South Africa playing in the ongoing three-match ODI series.
The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has already witnessed several players getting ruled out due to injuries or personal reasons. Recently, Lucknow Super Giants were dealt a blow with Mark Wood’s injury who is now ruled out of the whole season. Though there was no official confirmation, he was set to be replaced by Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed, however, that will not be the case now.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will not be providing the pace bowler with the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in the IPL. Reportedly, LSG had contacted the BCB to rope in Taskin but with a lot of international cricket to be played, the board has denied him to give the NOC.
BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus stated that the officials have spoken to Taskin Ahmed and the cricketer has already informed LSG about his unavailability for the IPL. “Since we have two important series like the ongoing home tour of South Africa and the home series against India, we feel it won’t be right for him to take part in the IPL.
“We have spoken with Taskin and he has understood the whole situation. He informed the franchise that he is not playing the IPL and will be available for the South Africa tour and later will return back home,” he said while speaking to the reporters according to Cricbuzz.
Shakib Al Hasan unlikely to play Test series vs South Africa
Meanwhile, Bangladesh all-rounder is unlikely to play in the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. His family members, mother, second daughter and youngest son are not well and the BCB is with him in this situation.
“We are expecting him to be available in the third ODIs unless his family members’ situation turns very critical. This is a crisis for him and he will be allowed to come whenever he wishes because family comes first. We are in constant touch with him. He might miss the Test series if situation is such, but we must remember that he is going through a crisis and we need to back him,” Yunus added.
