The tussle for the playoff spots heats up, as we enter into the final few stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The teams who have stuck with the same combination have been rewarded by virtue of their standing on the league table. The top-placed franchises have backed their players, despite a couple of ordinary performances. IPL is one of the most viewed sporting events across the globe, and as such, the pressure to form is monumental.

Considering the popularity of IPL, it is quite understandable that a handful of youngsters take time to settle into the new environment. The captain and the team management play a key role in the development of such talents, giving them enough opportunities to showcase their real talent. In this article, we look at one player from each team who has been backed by their captain.

1) Chennai Super Kings – Mukesh Choudhary

Mukesh Choudhary has been one of the standout bowlers of the tournament so far. The 25-year-old pacer only made his IPL debut this season and has 11 scalps to his name in eight outings at an average of just over 25. The left-arm pacer is the second-highest wicket-taker for Chennai Super Kings this season and has done a pretty good job, opening the bowling with the new ball.

A part of Mukesh Choudhary’s success credit goes to the Chennai management, for believing in his abilities, despite a few poor outings. After being taken to the cleaners against the likes of Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, the 25-year-old’s fortunes changed for the better against Mumbai Indians.

The left-arm pacer ran through the MI top order, picking up three wickets in his first two overs. Mukesh Choudhary has filled in the void left by Indian pacer, Deepak Chahar, who has missed the majority of the season owing to an injury. He has bowled two or three overs up top for the reigning champions and has also chipped in during the slog overs.
