Riyan Parag caught the attention of the cricketing fraternity with his performances in IPL 2019. However, in the last two seasons, he has failed to live up to his expectations. IPL 2022 did not start on a promising note for the youngster, who hardly got time to settle into the middle, given the stage of innings he walked into bat.

However, Sanju Samson stuck by the 20-year-old’s side and believed in his abilities to act as the finisher for the Royals. Riyan Parag finally got an opportunity to show his prowess against Bangalore, where he scored an unbeaten knock of 56 runs off just 31 balls, which was enough to hand his side a comfortable 29-run victory. Eventually, he was also awarded the player of the match award for his vital contribution with the bat.

It can be said that Riyan Parag receives a bit too much criticism, given that he hardly gets much of an opportunity to prove his point with the bat. Against Kolkata Knight Riders in the last game, he scored 19 runs off just 12 balls, which two maximums, and one boundary.
