IPL 2022: Updated Points Table, Orange and Purple Cap lists after DC vs SRH

The Delhi Capitals registered a much-needed 21-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 50 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on May 5. While DC added two precious points to their tally to revive their campaign, SRH suffered a third consecutive defeat.

SRH skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bowl first. His decision seemed to be spot on when opener Mandeep Singh was dismissed for a duck in the very first over whereas Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh went back to the dugout with just 10 runs to his name. However, that is when David Warner and skipper Rishabh Pant carried out the rescue act with a 48-run stand for the third wicket.

After Pant’s dismissal, Warner and Rovman Powell ensured that there were no further hiccups as they kept the scoreboard ticking and then accelerated in the death overs. The duo added an unbeaten 122 runs for the fourth wicket that propelled them to 207/3. While the southpaw remained unbeaten on a 58-ball 92, Powell scored 67 runs from 35 deliveries.

SRH fall short despite middle-order resistance

In reply, the Orange Army suffered an early setback as Abhishek Sharma and captain Williamson were dismissed for single-digit scores. Even Rahul Tripathi could not do anything exceptional and was out for just 22 after which the experienced duo of Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran added 60 runs for the fourth-wicket stand before the former was sent back for a 25-ball 42.

Pooran then tried his level best to keep SRH in the hunt as he single-handedly took on Delhi’s bowling attack despite running out of partners. Nonetheless, once he was dismissed for a quickfire 62 runs from 34 deliveries, it was curtains for SRH as they were restricted to 186/8.
