IPL 2022: Updated Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap lists after RR vs GT

Gujarat Titans made a strong comeback as they defeated Rajasthan Royals in a group stage match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on April 14. Skipper Hardik Pandya was adjudged the Player of the Match for his antics with both bat and ball. RR skipper Sanju Samson invited GT to bat after winning the toss. Australian wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade (12 off 6 balls) failed to capitalize as he was run out in the second over. Other opener, Shubman Gill (13 off 14 balls), and Vijay Shankar (2 off 7 balls) were dismissed quickly as well. GT were in some sort of trouble. However, skipper Hardik Pandya (87 off 52 balls) and Abhinav Manohar (43 off 28 balls) fought back before South African batter David Miller (31 off 14 balls) provided a flourish in the death overs. Pacer Kuldeep Sen, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Riyan Parag scalped one wicket each. Jos Butler’s attacking innings goes in vain for the Royals Chasing a big target of 193, wicketkeeper-batter Jos Butler (54 off 24 balls) was the main scorer for RR. However, the middle order could not contribute much, with skipper Samson (11 off 11 balls), R Ashwin (8 off 8 balls), and Rassie van der Dussen (6 off 10 balls) getting out cheaply. Some fight was shown by Shimron Hetmyer (29 off 17 balls), and Riyan Parag (18 off 16 balls). However, that was not enough for RR as they could only manage 155/9. Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the bowlers, scalping three crucial wickets. With the win over RR, GT have reached the top of the points table. Kolkata Knight Riders are on the second spot, followed by Rajasthan Royals (third place) and Punjab Kings (fourth place).
