Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are facing each currently in the 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is a crucial game for both sides in order to stay ahead in the playoffs race. However, RCB didn’t get off to a great start after their skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bat first. Opening batter Virat Kohli got out of the very first ball of the innings to Jagadeesha Suchith bagging a golden duck for the third time in the ongoing season.
The former RCB captain isn’t having a great run overall either having scored only one half-century in 12 matches so far. His strike-rate is also under the scanner. He has so far mustered 219 runs in 12 innings at a mediocre average of 19.63 and a strike-rate of 111.34. As far as the dismissal in the game against SRH is concerned, it was a harmless delivery from the left-arm spinner on the leg-side which Virat Kohli looked to flick.
But he ended up playing it straight to short mid-wicket fielder where SRH skipper Kane Williamson did no mistake and grabbed the catch. Kohli was frustrated walking back to the pavilion not believing his luck on the day. Perhaps, he continued to talk about the dismissal in the dressing room as well to one of his teammates and the disappointment on his face was visible. Head coach Sanjay Bangar entered the scene soon and was seen consoling Virat Kohli by hugging him as well.
The 33-year-old is going through an extremely tough phase in his career and consistent low scores in the IPL must be affecting his confidence as well.
