Yet again in the mega auction, MI management has failed to purchase quality spin bowling. So far, Murugan Ashwin seems to be the mainstay of their spin department. Also, performance-wise, M Ashwin has just been reasonable as a front-line spinner (6 wickets in 6 games). While the likes of Yuzi Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi have won matches for their teams, MI’s spin bowling has let them down.

Perhaps in such a case, the franchise can look to sign Adam Zampa in the next auction. With regards to his buying value, the Aussie will get available at a suitable price tag. Also as most teams have settled spin artillery, maybe MI can even fetch him at his base price.

However, besides his signing, MI might face an issue to cast him in the playing XI. As the likes of Archer, Pollard, and maybe Tim David will be the guaranteed overseas players, the management will play a seamer in the case of Zampa. But the 30-year-old can be precisely used just like how CSK had utilized Imran Tahir.

Overall if the team bags a proposition like Sam Curran then even Zampa can cast himself in the playing XI. Otherwise, specifically on slowish or sluggish wickets, the leg-spinner can make an exclusive entry into the team. All in all, as an attacking leg-break bowler, Zampa will also enjoy Rohit’s apt captaincy skills.
