IPL: 3 reasons why RCB can't remove Virat Kohli as their skipper
RCB will not even think of changing their skipper. Here are the reasons why.
3. Virat Kohli- The batsman
Virat Kohli might not have been a successful skipper for RCB but he has been a successful batsman over the years. He is the leading run-scorer in IPL and he also holds the record for being the highest run-getter in a single season. Virat had an outstanding IPL 2016 in which he scored 973 runs and took his team to the final single-handedly.
He is considered as one of the best batsmen across formats and his consistency is admirable. RCB has been considered as a successful unit because of the contribution from him and AB de Villiers and such a strong partnership is quite difficult to form again. In IPL 2020 as well, Kohli made more than 466 runs in 15 games.
Hence, Kohli is invaluable for Royal Challengers and if they decide to replace him as a skipper, he might not play as a batsman as well. Considering that Kohli will continue leading India for a long, he would not want to play as a non-captain in IPL. If Virat goes to any other team, the impact he brings as a batsman will also go away and RCB would never want that to happen.
