3. Jhye Richardson – INR 14 crore, IPL 2021 (PBKS)
Jhye Richardson had received such an overwhelming amount because of the limited supply of overseas pacers. As teams in IPL 2021 auction were profusely looking to recruit quality foreign pacers, Richardson was a hot cake. Moreover, before the auction days, the Aussie pacer had also scalped the most wickets (29) in BBL 2020-21.
Particularly, the Punjab team was in dire need to bag bankable pacers for the 2021 season. As result, the franchise also was ready to overspend for their needs. Eventually, the PBKS management fetched the Aussie spearhead at INR 14 crore.
But in response, Richardson made a very crestfallen start in his IPL journey. The 25-year-old just featured only in three games carrying a poor economy of 10.63. Even in his wicket tally, Richardson scalped just three wickets and failed to provide crucial breakthroughs. Overall, after his inferior matches, the Australian is yet to make a comeback in the IPL.
