2. Andrew Tye
Andrew Tye who is well famed as a specialist death bowler was a member of the Chennai Super Kings squad. They bought him ahead of IPL 2015 but he didn’t play a single game. CSK were banned the following year and Gujarat Lions sought for Tye’s services.
AJ Tye created history when he made his IPL debut. Playing for Gujarat Lions in 2017 he took a five-wicket haul including a hat-trick and was the then best bowling figures on debut. As Gujarat Lions’ term ended and CSK didn’t retain him, Punjab saw the opportunity and bought him for a whopping amount of Rs 7.2 crores. Tye lived up to his reputation and ran away with the Purple cap picking up 24 wickets.
CSK are at the moment without the services of Mark Wood or Lungi Ngidi. Their bowling at the death looks wanting. Tye, with his plethora of variations, could have been an answer to their pace bowling dearth.
