IPL auction is unpredictable, says New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham
Indian fans are eager to see the participation of Neesham who has a strike rate of 141 above in T20Is in the IPL.
James Neesham is not only one of the most consistent performers for New Zealand who had almost won the World Cup for his side this English summer but also a headline maker on Twitter. The 29-year-old batting all-rounder is popular for his takes on social media and engagements with the fans.
On Monday, he spoke his mind out on the microblogging site once again while responding to a tweet during a question-answer session, saying the auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) is “unpredictable”.
Neesham, who was the third-highest run-getter for the Black Caps in the ICC World Cup that the Kiwis missed by half a distance between the cup and lips, has played in only one IPL season till date and it was way back in 2014. He was supposed to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2015 after they bought him but didn’t because of injury.
However, his coming of age could see the franchises vouching for him in the auction for the 2020 edition coming up in a few days. But as of now, Neesham, who has played only four IPL games to score 42 runs and claim one wicket for the former Dekhi Daredevils, isn’t feeling too excited.
James Neesham could be in high demand for IPL 2020
The Indian fans are eager to see the participation of Neesham who has a strike rate of 141 above in T20Is in the IPL. Recently, Neesham made an indirect hint at playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad more than Royal Challengers Bangalore. Hyderabad is led by Neesham’s own country captain Kane Williamson. Neesham was also asked by a fan to make Williamson join Twitter in the new year to which he said that he was thinking about world peace.
Neesham, who will not feature in the Pakistan Super League this year because of domestic engagements, could be in high demand in the IPL auction. The cricketer, who has now become a more popular figure in India because of his witty social media takes, has represented his country in 12 Tests, 59 ODIs and 18 T20Is in which he has scored over 2,000 runs and taken over 80 wickets.
