Right then. It is time to get out the hammer, it is time for the IPL franchises to put on their thinking caps, as it is time for the IPL mega auction. The 2022 IPL mega auction will be a two-day affair and will take place on 12th and 13th February.

A colossal 590 players will be up for grabs for all the 10 franchises this year. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are the two new IPL franchises that are added to the fray. While the Lucknow Super Giants will be led by KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya will be the skipper of the Gujarat Titans side.
Out of the 590 players who will go under the hammer, 336 of them are uncapped cricketers. Also, 370 Indian players will be up for grabs, while a total of 220 overseas players will be auctioned. So, brace yourselves for the several twists, turns, and surprises that will be in store for the next couple of days.

The 2022 IPL mega auction will take place in the city of Bangalore. It will be a two-day event and will be held on 12th and 13th February.
Where will the 2022 IPL mega auction be telecasted and live-streamed?
Star Sports Network will broadcast the 2022 IPL mega auction. The mega auction can be live-streamed on Disney+Hotstar.
What were the rules for retentions and draft picks for the 2022 IPL mega auction?
The 8 existing franchises announced the list of players that they retained ahead of the mega auction. Each franchise was allowed to retain only a maximum of 4 players.
After that, the two new IPL franchises announced their draft picks. Also, a franchise can only spend a maximum of INR 90 Crores in the mega auction.
Are RTM’s allowed?
Right to Match (RTM) Cards will not be used in the 2022 IPL mega auction. AN RTM Card can be used by an IPL franchise to buy back a player who featured for them in the previous IPL edition for the highest amount that the player has been bid for.
