Mumbai’s left handed batsman who bowls gentle right arm medium fast, Shivam Dube can be considered as a hot prospect of the future of Indian cricket team as he belongs to the rare breed of the fast bowling all-rounders produced by the Indian soil. However, the all-rounder is far from a finished product as he is still at the leaning stage and has a lot to improve upon before becoming India’s vital cog in limited-overs squad.
The 27-year-old was up for grabs during the IPL auction for the upcoming 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after he was released by the franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Dube had registered himself at a base price of INR 50 lakhs. His presence on the auction table initiated a bidding war between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the former bid for their first player during the IPL 2021 auction in form of Dube and took him to a staggering amount of INR 3.4 crore.
Shivam Dube had delivered a poor performance in IPL 2020
This was when Delhi Capitals (DC) entered into the war zone as they bid upto INR 4.2 crore for including the Indian all-rounder into their squad. The runner-up of IPL 2020 were hoping to acquire an Indian all-rounder as a back-up for Marcus Stoinis. However, it was Rajasthan Royals who swooped in to scalp Dube at a whopping amount of INR 4.4 crore.
Here is how Twitter reacted after Dube was snapped by RR

SRH could have used someone like Shivam Dube. They desperately lack Indian talent.
A powerful hitter lower in the order who can bowl a couple of overs if needed was what they lacked.

In the 13th edition of T20 Extravaganza hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dube had featured in 11 games for the Bangalore outfit amassing 129 runs at an average of 18.93 and strike rate of 122.86. He also took four wickets in the process with his medium pace bowling
Dube can be a great inclusion of Royals as they have often faced dearth of good middle-order Indian batsman in the recent past. Also, with his stint in Royal Challengers Bangalore for about 2 years, Dube has garnered a lot of experience. Inclusion of Shivam Dube in the Royals squad created an uproar on Twitter as the fans came up with their own views regarding this buy.
