Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings)
The franchise based in Chennai was captained by India’s World-Cup winning spinner MS Dhoni in the 2008 IPL. CSK had a dream run under the captaincy of Captain Cool, winning 8 out of the 14 games and entered the semi-finals. In the knock out stage, they beat Punjab and thus entered the finals where they were ultimately beaten by tournament winners Rajasthan by 3 wickets. Dhoni since taking captaincy in 2007 has never looked back and has taken Indian cricket to many heights.
Dhoni, India’s most successful captain, was recently dropped from the T20 series against Windies and Australia. following a poor outing with the bat. However, he is still a regular member of the 50-overs Indian outfit. Dhoni is also the co-owner of ISL team Chennaiyin FC alongside Vita Dani and Abhishek Bachchan. Under his leadership, CSK recently won the 2018 IPL for the record third time beating SRH in the finals.
