India head coach Ravi Shastri is set to end his stint at the helm after the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. Along with him, even the bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar have also decided to move on with the BCCI searching for their replacements. Rahul Dravid is already set to take over as head coach after the World Cup while the support staff is yet to be finalised.

Meanwhile, it has been understood that the Ahmedabad franchise owners CVC Capital have approached Ravi Shastri and Co. to be part of the backroom staff. However, Shastri is understood to have asked for more time to decide with his focus currently on the T20 World Cup. It is also known that the franchise is keen to have Arun and Sridhar a part of the coaching staff as well.

According to Cricbuzz, it has also been revealed that the current India head coach is open to a coaching stint in the IPL at the cost of his return to commentary. It will be a conflict of interest case if he gets a commentary contract from BCCI and also signs up a coaching stint with an IPL team. Having said that, Ravi Shastri can directly link up with the broadcaster directly while also being involved with IPL team, something VVS Laxman has done over the years.

CVC Capitals want the professionals involved in decision making

BCCI has decided to give the two new IPL teams a chance to pick up to three players outside the auction in order to start building their team. For the same reason, CVC Capitals are eager to close out the deal with the backroom staff as soon as possible as they want the professionals to be involved in the decision making regarding the player retention and other things.

They are also looking to recruit a CEO and an administrative manager at the earliest to look after a lot of things. Not long ago, there were apprehensions about their existence in the IPL only days after they bagged the Ahmedabad team for INR 5600 crore last month. CVC attracted unwanted attention for their investments in a betting firm in the UK. However, the BCCI has cleared them now and have reportedly sealed the franchise agreement as well.
