IPL franchises condemn the Pulwama terrorist attack

In a major terrorist attack, at least as 44 CRPF personnel were martyred in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday when a terrorist attacked with an explosive-laden vehicle into one of the buses of the convoy of the security forces. Jaish-e-Mohammed has claimed responsibility for the attack and the police have identified the terrorist as Adil Ahmad Dar from Kakapora in Pulwama. The Scorpio SUV being driven by Ahmed was said to be carrying 350 kgs of explosives.
India and the world have strongly condemned the attack and condolences have been pouring in from all quarters. Indian Premier League franchises also tweeted to share the pain of the families of the deceased.
“Our hearts go out to the brave soldiers who perished in the #Pulwama terrorist attack. Our deepest condolences to the families of these martyrs in this time of grief. We stand united in this fight against evil,” read Royal Challengers Bangalore’s twitter handle. Delhi Capitals wrote, “We’re deeply saddened by the barbarous terror attack on our jawans of @crpfindia in #Pulwama. Our condolences go out to the martyrs’ families. Jai Hind.”
The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings asked why we spreading so much hatred instead of love. “Deepest condolences to the families of the martyred CRPF jawans in Pulwama. Why so much hate in the times of love?”
The IPL 2019 is set to kick-off on March 23 and Chennai Super Kings, who were the winners of the previous edition, will host the final. This will be the first time that the entire IPL season will be held in the country during the election year and also the first time when the tournament will be held without a chairman in place. With the World Cup only two weeks after the IPL, you can expect some star players to sit out in order to avert any injury.
