IPL is world's best league in my opinion: Asghar Afghan
Rashid Khan has been playing in the IPL since 2017.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) changed the face of cricket forever ever since its inception in 2008. The marquee Indian T20 league has succeeded in bringing all the world-class players across the globe under one roof and apart from that has also given so many things to the participating players like a dream lifestyle, financial security, increasing their brand value, and demand in franchise cricket, etc.
Rashid Khan also happens to be one of the players to have benefited largely due to the IPL and his former Afghanistan teammate Asghar Afghan has come forward and said that while Afghanistan has given Rashid a platform to showcase his talent internationally, it is the IPL that has made the star leggie that he is today.
Rashid Khan has become great because of IPL: Asghar Afghan
“There is absolutely no doubt about the amount of experience that he (Rashid) has gained and is only getting better day by day only because of the IPL, because IPL is very tough and Rashid’s level has gone up. Even our Mujeeb’s (Mujeeb ur Rahman) level has increased because of the IPL,” said Asghar Afghan while speaking on BatBricks7 Presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker.
“In my opinion, IPL is the world’s best league because the world’s best players go there. It’s also a big deal for Rashid that he was vice-captain of a team and this year he has performed really well. He performs well in every IPL and tries to do something new in IPL every year. The best thing about Rashid is that he constantly tries to improve himself each year and that’s why he keeps performing well,” he added.
Rashid Khan was an integral member of the Sunrisers Hyderabad for five editions from 2017 to 2021. He was all but set to be one of SRH’s mandatory retentions for IPL 2022, but reportedly since Kane Williamson was the franchise’s first-choice player and captain, both the leggie and the franchise decided to part ways mutually. He was then roped in by the new entrants and the eventual champions Gujarat Titans for a staggering INR 15 crore.
