IPL Maximum Sixes Award Winners List from 2008 to 2025

The Maximum Sixes of the Season award, as the name suggests, is given to the player who hits the most sixes in a single edition of the league. Sanath Jayasuriya won the award in the inaugural edition, smashing 31 sixes in 14 matches. In 2009 and 2010, Adam Gilchrist and Robin Uthappa claimed the award by hitting 29 and 27 sixes in 16 matches, respectively.

The period from 2011 to 2013 was dominated by Chris Gayle’s mayhem. The ‘Universe Boss’ dismantled bowlers during this time, completing a hat-trick of Maximum Sixes awards. In 2011, 2012, and 2013, the Caribbean powerhouse smashed 44, 59, and 51 sixes, respectively. He also won the award in the 2015 season with a tally of 38 sixes.

Glenn Maxwell won the award in 2014 and 2017 by hitting 36 and 26 sixes, respectively. In 2016, Virat Kohli hit 38 sixes in 16 matches. In 2018 and 2019, Rishabh Pant and Andre Russell smashed 37 and 52 sixes, respectively. In 2020 and 2021, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul both hit 30 sixes in 13 matches each. In 2022, 2023, and 2024, Jos Buttler, Faf du Plessis, and Abhishek Sharma won the award by hitting 45, 36, and 42 sixes, respectively.

It will be exciting to see which power-hitter dominates the six-hitting charts in IPL 2025 and adds their name to this prestigious list.
