If you are an avid Indian Premier League (IPL) fan, then there is some breaking news that is coming your way. It has been confirmed that the much-awaited IPL auction is set to take place on 18th February 2021. The venue has also been decided, and it will be held in the city of Chennai.
Earlier this month, all the IPL teams had released the list of players that they have retained ahead of the 14th edition of the IPL. While the Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) side released a whopping 10 players ahead of the auctions, the Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) side was more prudent, releasing just 5 players ahead of the auctions.
And, the update has come from the official Twitter handle of the Indian Premier League. The handle added that the fans can set their reminders for the upcoming auctions and also asked the fans how excited they were as well.

Some big names released ahead of the auctions
The IPL auctions this year would be extremely exciting. Several big names have been released ahead of the auctions, and it would be interesting to see if these big players attract high bids from the franchises. The likes of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell, James Neesham, Chris Morris and Aaron Finch have all been released by their respective franchises.
As far as what is left in the purse is concerned, the Kings XI Punjab side has the whopping INR 53.2 Crores left, and they have 9 slots to be filled. On the other hand, the Sunrisers Hyderabad side has just INR 10.75 Crores left to fill 3 slots in their lineup. As far as the most number of slots to be filled is concerned, the Royal Challengers Bangalore side has as many as 13 slots remaining.
The Virat Kohli led side has INR 35.7 Crores left to be splashed on the players in the upcoming auctions. Yes, so don’t forget to set your reminders, as the IPL auctions are just three weeks away.
