Cricket is one of the most popular sports all over the globe and IPL is cricket’s heart. Cricket stars from all the countries gather together to play the action-packed tournament. The cash-rich league witnesses some extraordinary performances every year, and the players excel by giving their best. Every cricketer dreams of playing IPL. The game has gradually evolved in every aspect through the years. The initial days of top-level cricket were all about Tests where two teams used to fight for five days. In the initial days, cricket used to be played with the red ball and the game was majorly in favor of the bowlers as the protective gears and helmets were not developed by then. But now the scenarios have completely changed and some new dimensions are added to the game. Now the new concept which is the limited-over format is very popular. After the huge success of the One-Day internationals, the 20-over format was introduced, which is the most celebrated format in the current time. Cricket in white clothes is still very fresh but nowadays cricket teams wear colorful and designed clothes. Here’s a look at the most stylish jerseys in IPL history: 10. Kochi Tuskers Kerala – (5/10) Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The Mahela Jayewardene-led team was not so successful but was in talks because of their jersey. They used a unique but impressive combination of colors as it was a bright and eye-catchy combination of Orange and Purple. The orange color in their jerseys indicated the color of the orange cap, which is awarded to the leading run-scorer every year, and the purple color indicated the purple cap, which is awarded to the leading wicket-taker every season. 9. Pune Warriors India 2012 – (6/10) Pune Warriors India. The franchise was owned by Sahara Group Sports Limited, which is a part of the Indian business conglomerate Sahara India Pariwar. The team underperformed and got dissolved after playing the 2013 season. Pune Warriors India did not have a big fanbase but they begged attention due to the change of the color of their jersey. In the 2012 season, they had a turquoise blue colored jersey with grey-colored broad strips on the neck and shoulders. The jersey looked very bright and there were talks about their jerseys as they used a classy and evergreen combination. Sourav Ganguly captained the side in that season who himself was a cricketing icon in India at that time. 8. Kolkata Knight Riders 2012 – (7/10) KKR 2012. They sealed the titles in 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. The KKR franchise is owned by Shah Rukh Khan, who is one of the biggest fashion icons in India. Kolkata Knight Riders have one of the coolest jerseys in the competition and they haven’t changed it much too much over the years. KKR used to wear black-colored jerseys in the first two seasons but they decided to change their color in the third season. They came up with a purple-dominated jersey with a little bit of gold color which made it look glamorous. Their purple and gold jersey with the Nokia logo in it became very popular in the 2012 season. 7. Royal Challengers Bangalore 2016 (Green Jersey) – (8/10) RCB 2016 (Green Jersey). Through the initiative, RCB also spread awareness about recycling. The green jersey that RCB wore in 2016 was made from recycled plastic, as they promoted ‘Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse’. The 2016 green-jersey of RCB brought great luck for the team as Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers wore it against Gujrat Lions and both scored centuries. The jersey had a noble cause so the audience appreciated it a lot. Apart from that, it looked very attractive and trended on social media. RCB will wear the green-themed jersey in one game of the 2022 season too. 6. Rising Pune Supergiant 2016 – (8/10) MS Dhoni of Rising Pune Supergiant in action. (Photo: IANS) Rising Pune Supergiant, along with Gujrat Lions, joined the league in 2016 and were there for two seasons when Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals got suspended. The IPL legend MS Dhoni also played for the franchise and captained them in the 2016 season. The franchise was owned by the RPSG group, who are set to re-enter the competition with the new franchise based in Lucknow in 2022. The Supergiants wore a multi-colored jersey in the 2016 season. The jersey contained pink, purple, blue, and yellow colors and was majorly dominated by the purple color. Their jersey was very vibrant and the different colors grabbed the attention of the cricket fans and were praised. The purple color was there because of the purple logo of the RPSG group. 5. Kolkata Knight Riders 2021 – (8.5/10) Kolkata Knight Riders. They have adopted purple and gold from the 2010 season but they come up with something different despite not changing much. Purple and gold have become their identity and fans love to see the KKR players when they take the field. In the 2021 season of the tournament, KKR came up with very unique and good-looking patterns which stole the limelight of media as well as the cricket fans. The gold-colored shades in their purple-dominated jersey looked very bright and the players looked fabulous in the jersey. It will be interesting to see the KKR’s jersey in the 2022 season. 4. They have won IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. Mumbai Indians wear the blue and gold jersey, which is very popular in India and when MI plays in Wankhede, the whole stadium gets colored in blue. They have a huge fanbase and especially the Mumbaikars cheer their heart out for them. They are using a blue and gold jersey for a few years but it was very different in the inaugural season of the league. They had a jersey with a pretty simple design with the colors sky blue and cobalt blue. A strip of cobalt blue was surrounded by sky blue. Their jersey looked very elegant and the legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya made it very much in demand. 3. Rajasthan Royals 2019 – (9/10) Rajasthan Royals. They were removed from the league after the 2015 season because of the spot-fixing scandal. Nevertheless, they made a comeback in the 2018 season. Rajasthan Royals were using blue-colored jerseys from the first season before they rebranded their franchise and came up with a pink-dominated jersey. They wore pink-colored jerseys in one game in 2018 to support the awareness for breast cancer. They decided to wear the pink-colored jersey for the full season ahead of the commencement of the 2019 season. Their color of jersey had a dual meaning. They raise awareness about breast cancer but the pink color also celebrates Jaipur’s identity as India’s pink city. 2. Chennai Super Kings 2021 – (9/10) Chennai Super Kings. The franchise was missed by their fans for two years and it was an emotional moment when they returned to the scenes in 2018. The CSK made their comeback in style by winning the trophy for the third time. The yellow color of CSK’s jersey was the same in 2021 but they came up with something very unique and elegant. Dhoni unveiled the team’s jersey through a video released by the franchise ahead of the 2021 season. CSK had a revamped look for their jersey as it was featuring a new camouflage design on the shoulders, which was was a tribute to the Indian armed forces and this gesture of the franchise was highly praised by everyone. 1. They have not been much successful but they have the biggest fanbase among all the IPL teams. The main reason behind the fanbase of RCB is the modern-day legend, Virat Kohli, who has been with the franchise in all the IPL seasons till now and is the only player to play for one team in all the seasons. In the 2016 season, the trademark golden and blue colors in the jersey were replaced by black and a slight shade of grey for the first time. The red color was still there but RCB came up with the idea of using different jerseys in home and away matches. Home games had red-colored jerseys with black patches on the shoulders while the away games had black-colored jerseys with red patch on shoulders. The jersey that RCB had in 2016 was probably the best jersey of any IPL team in the history of the league.
