Ireland Tri-Nation Series 2019, Match 3, Ireland vs Bangladesh Preview: Hungry Tigers crave for more success on the Irish turf
Considering how easily Windies tamed the Irish, another slaughtering show might be on cards.
After an incredible run-fest against Ireland in the first game, Windies went down quite one-sidedly to a rampant Bangladeshi unit. The Tigers looked in complete control of the innings with the bat and ball, apart from the few moments where Shai Hope dominated the proceedings.
Bangladesh have worked their balance brilliantly. They look strong in both batting and bowling departments and with the luxury of all-rounders like Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan, they can go ahead with a bowler or a batsman extra in the line-up. Considering how easily Windies tamed the Irish, another slaughtering show might be on cards.
The scars on the Irish bowlers will remain indelible, the level of carnage on the other day with John Campbell and Shai Hope in full flow was a treat to witness for the rest, not for the Irish side and fans. This will be the first game at The Village this series, which saw a low-scoring encounter when Ireland took on England. But the Tigers have enough skill in their batting lineup to post another 300+ total on this ground.
Playing Combinations
Ireland
James McCollum is expected to come in place of Loran Tucker for the hosts and the rest are expected to remain same. The teenage speedster Joshua Little had an outstanding game at The Village last time against England and will be hoping to pull off something similar. Kevin O’Brien got amongst the runs in the last game and they need some of their other big names like Paul Sterling and Andre Balbirnie to do some damage.
Probable XI
William Porterfield (C), Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie, Lorcan Tucker/James McCollum, Kevin O’Brien, Gary Wilson (WK), George Dockrell, Barry McCarthy, Boyd Rankin, Tim Murtagh, Joshua Little

Bangladesh
Mustafizur Rahman had a poor outing and is expected to make way for Taskin Ahmed. They would also want to test how Liton Das will be coping in these European conditions and he might come into the XI in place of Soumya Sarkar, just so the latter can get some rest. Their top three registered half-centuries in the previous game and there is no reason why they can’t repeat it again.
Probable XI
Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar/Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (WK), Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman/Taskin Ahmed
Focus will be on
Kevin O’Brien (Ireland)
Despite having a mountain to climb and his other teammates not showing any determination to overhaul the target, Kevin O’Brien registered a half-century against Windies. It wasn’t the greatest knock he will play but will give the all-rounder an awful lot of confidence. Ireland need their most prolific striker to be at his best if they are to escape the wrath of the Tigers.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Bangladesh)
If this game is anywhere near the Ireland-England game, then Mehidy Hasan Miraz will have a great time bowling. He hasn’t pulled out any rabbits out of his hat in recent months and will be keen to deliver a big performance just before the big tournament begins. The Irish are not so great at playing spin and will find it difficult to cope with him.
